“Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now without wishing it were different; enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes (which it will); being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way (which it won’t).” – James Baraz”
Presence and Mindfulness Journal Prompts:
Periodically, we will post a Journal Prompt on Mondays. If you are journaling, or wish to journal, this can be a good way to start your week. Simply write about one or more.
If you are NOT journaling, simply ponder one or more of the questions and use this as a way to focus yourself as you begin this new week.
So, take in a deep breath. Clear your mind. Pay attention to slow rhythmic breathing.
Now, pick a question below, and allow yourself to ponder it. Do so without judgement of yourself. Simply allow the thoughts to come. Write about them, or simply think about them.
Select a positive thought that comes from this experience to carry with you this week.
Here are prompts for this day and week ahead:
- What does it mean to you to “be present”? What does it mean to you to do something “mindfully”? Does it sound good? Or like a chore?
- Why do you want to be present with your family? What is the hardest thing about being present with the people you love?
- Who do you know who feels very present when they are with you? What do they do? How do they act that makes them so present?
- Can you think of an experience in which you remember being fully present? What is that like?
